About Me

I make digital things feel human.

I'm Alex Rivera, a UX designer based in San Francisco with a passion for creating digital experiences that feel natural, intuitive, and genuinely delightful. For the past 7 years, I've been helping companies — from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 enterprises — turn complex problems into elegant solutions.

My approach is rooted in research and empathy. I believe great design starts with deeply understanding the people who will use it. Before I sketch a single wireframe, I'm talking to users, analyzing data, and mapping journeys. This research-first mindset means my designs aren't just beautiful — they're backed by evidence.

Before transitioning to UX, I studied cognitive psychology at UC Berkeley, which gave me a deep appreciation for how people think, learn, and make decisions. That foundation continues to inform every design choice I make.

When I'm not designing, you'll find me hiking trails around the Bay Area, experimenting with film photography, or volunteering as a UX mentor for underrepresented designers through ADPList.

Philosophy

How I Approach Design

People First

Every design decision begins with understanding the humans who will use it. Research isn't a phase — it's a constant.

Evidence-Driven

Intuition is a starting point, not a destination. I validate assumptions with data and iterate based on what the evidence tells me.

Simplicity Wins

The best interfaces disappear. I strive for solutions that feel obvious in hindsight — elegant simplicity that hides real complexity.
